Statement on American Academy of Pediatric’s Support of Same‐Sex Marriage
FRANKLIN, Tenn. (March 21, 2013) – The recent announcement that the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has come out in favor of same-sex marriage is the final destination on a journey begun in 2001 by a small group within the AAP who wanted to use the organization to promote homosexual parenting.
The position the AAP has reached is not science. As Loren Marks, an associate professor of child and family studies at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, said, “Many studies compare wealthy, well-educated lesbian mothers to single heterosexual mothers instead of married couples. This matters, because children from married families do better on numerous outcomes including psychological and physical health and avoidance of high-risk behaviors than children of single-parent families.”
The AAP’s position is social activism wrapped in science used to serve as propaganda in the cultural war against the natural family, which is the foundational unit of humanity.
All who are committed to the integrity of science should be saddened by the fact that such a well-known organization would betray its historical reputation of care for children to play politics with their future. Their well-being and health is far too important.
