What Marriage Really Is (May 16, 2012)
President Obama’s recent pronouncement in favor of homosexual marriage has raised questions about whether marriage is a cultural/civil creation or a greater moral reality.
But society didn’t create marriage any more than it created circles and squares. Those are the names we give to real things. And this real thing that we call marriage is a reflection of God, Himself. In fact, He chose marriage to represent the relationship between Christ and his church. Societies throughout history have simply recognized the importance of this special relationship between a man and a woman and encouraged it.
Marriage is a real thing, not just a word, and even if the President of the United States is in favor of homosexual marriage, it doesn’t change the truth of what real marriage is.
