Healthy and Free Tennessee? (March 20, 2013)

A coalition named Healthy and Free Tennessee announced its formation last week saying “Women, men and families are fed up with legislators coming into our bedrooms, coming into our homes, and telling us what we can and can’t do.”

But a closer look at the press announcement shows that their objections have nothing to do with what is done in private.  Rather, they object to a proposed amendment to Tennessee’s constitution that would once again allow the legislature to regulate abortion. They object to Planned Parenthood’s version of sex education not being allowed in our public schools. And they object to legislators who opposed the federal mandate that employers have to provide abortifacients to employees.  What they really object to is having to be responsible for sexual promiscuity and not being able to promote their philosophy among our school children
