Pray for Tennessee’s Elected Leaders (January 9, 2013)
The Tennessee legislature convenes this week to begin it’s next two year term. There are a lot of new faces in both the House and the Senate. Many of these leaders have never served in the legislature before.
They will be dealing with some thorny issues like gun control, school vouchers and a constitutional amendments on the income tax.
They will also vote on legislation that will have long lasting impact on morality and religious liberty in Tennessee.
These political leaders have great influence, for good or evil, because the policies they put in place will shape our society for years to come. We would be wise to obey the Apostle Paul’s exhortation to “pray for rulers and those in authority.”
Resolve in two thousand thirteen to be more faithful and fervent in your prayers for our governmental leaders in Tennessee!
