Our Legislators Need Your Prayers (January 7, 2015)

As our legislative session begins next week, let’s pray diligently for our new leaders. 1 Timothy 2: 1-2 tells us to pray “for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

What kinds of things should we pray for? Wisdom and discernment as our legislators weed through massive amounts of information, the courage to do what is right, the understanding that biblical truth should be their standard, safety as our legislators travel from their homes to Nashville weekly, and protection for their family relationships as they will be separated for the next several months.

As we intercede, we can rest assured that God is directing our leaders. Proverbs 21:1 says, “The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes.”
