The Bill Conservatives Overlooked (April 27, 2016)
With the media focused on social conservative legislation, few conservatives noticed a bill on administrative procedures that may have a significant impact on controlling the growth of government in Tennessee.
House bill 2068 limits the ability of government agencies to issue rules and regulations, which is important because liberals increasingly use bureaucrats to push their agenda through regulations.
For example, the U.S. Department of Education is attempting to reinterpret Title IX to say that “sex” doesn’t mean” sex” but means “gender identity” for purposes of school bathrooms and locker rooms.
Tennessee’s bureaucratic agencies must now prove by convincing evidence that a rule is necessary and essential to better serve the people, not the government. The Legislature asserting more control over these agencies is a good step toward restoring power to its rightful place—the people and their elected representatives.
