Anti-bullying Legislation Debate Heats Up!

Legislation expanding protections for students from bullying is causing a stir in Tennessee and attracting national attention. The Tennessean featured a story today from the Chattanooga Time Free Press on bill, SB 760/HB 1153.

Gay activists are attacking the legislation claiming that it promotes bullying. In fact, the bill expands protection from bullying to all students, not just pre-defined groups, and puts the focus on the behavior of the bully rather than the characteristics of the victim.

The bill is sponsored in the House by Rep. Vance Dennis (R – Savannah) and in the Senate by Sen. Jim Tracy (R- Shelbyville)
